MMA Student Creeds

In addition to your regular training, each belt color (i.e., white & white-black are considered one color level, white) requires you to learn and practice specific creeds, which are listed below:

  • I pledge to have Honor and Respect to my parents, school, dojang, higher belts and love lower belts. (White Belt)
  • I pledge to have a straight mind, body and work well with my fellow men. (White/Green)
  • I pledge to practice Martial Arts, follow my Master, obey rules and courtesy of the Dojang . (Full Green belt)
  • I pledge to respect all others, living things, never talk behind people’s back, say nice words and respect others property. (White/Red Belt)
  • I pledge to say NO to peer pressure, have a positive attitude, sound mind, do my best and reach my goal successfully. (Full Red Belt)
  • I sincerely pledge not to break the Student Creed. (White/Black)
  • YOU CAN ALWAYS DO BETTER THAN YOU THINK YOU CAN DO. (Full Black Belt)

Once you obtain a Black Belt status (and are then only one test away from becoming a Black Belt!), you must know and practice the following three creeds:

  • 1. I intend to develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or physical health.
  • 2. I intend to develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others.
  • 3. I intend to use what I learned in class constructively and defensively to help myself and my fellow man, and never to be abusive or offensive.

Finally, upon attaining your Black Belt, you will also know and practice the Black Belt Oath, which is as follows:

  • 1. I accept with honor and privilege the Black Belt in Maiwand Martial Arts, and do hereby swear to uphold the standards of honesty, modesty, courtesy, integrity, high moral code.
  • 2. I sincerely pledge to honor my Instructors and school with loyalty and support, and to value and carry on the Maiwand Martial Arts tradition with respect and dignity.
